A flower doesn’t need permission to bloom, but it does need to be watered.

As entrepreneurs we are our business, any fears, blocks and barriers that we face also show up in our business. However, unlike the resilience of the human body, our business is not so resilient, so when these things effect our business it means lack of client, revenue and growth.

This is not something we want to face when we are trying to grow our businesses. I am here to say that you have absolutely everything inside of you to create and grow a successful business, but it needs to be unleashed. You need guidance, knowledge, understandings and strategies, but above all – You need to know yourself and be honest with yourself.

The only thing that is holding your business back is you. A little harsh I know, but when it comes down to the crunch time, it is you that is running your business and we all know that there is no separation between us and our business. So my tips for you today are:

For the sake of your business, get to know yourself & how you function.

#1 – What keeps you motivated?

I can tell you that it is not money! As we know money alone does not make us happy or motivated for that matter, however what money can provide can motivate us. The best way to get motivated is to set clear goals and know why you need to achieve them. You can go one step further and ask yourself the reverse. What happens if I don’t achieve it? Sometimes this can be just as, if not more powerful than the reasons for achieving our goal.

#2 – Nourish Yourself

You will hear me bang on about this all the time. The kind of nutrients and the amount of nutrients that we put in our body effect the way we feel, the way we think, the way we move and definitely the way we stay motivated. Our stomach is our second brain, and therefore is full of nerve endings that can either support or hinder our thought pattern. You know in business you want to stay on top of your game. So, it is now time to look at your body, what do I need to stay functioning the way I want to? What do I need to add and what do I need to remove? Here is a clue – always remove the sugar. Processed sugar is so addictive it lights up the brain the same way cocaine does. It also gives us a quick high and then takes our emotional and energy levels lower than when you first started. It also takes more energy for the body to digest and process, therefore is taking energy away that you need to execute your business 100%.

#3- Set yourself up for success

Before you even start the day, decide how you want to feel and how your day is going to play out. How do you want to feel at the end of the day? Bring all these good feeling emotions in to your mind, body and soul before you even get out of bed in the morning. If you can have this little creative control over your state, you are going to begin your day on a high.

When you have thoughts that good or bad it releases neuropeptides into the body that regulate our hormones. When we think good thoughts it elevates our happy hormones, our endorphins, oxytocin etc, which means our body is happy, it is functioning the way it wants to and all systems are go. What this means for your business is that your brain, mind and body is clear and you are able to see opportunities better, strategize better and therefore the outcome will always be more favourable.

#4 – The Right Movement

Ok, if we are taking about moving for success, we are taking aerobic workout. Yes, I am a yoga lover too, but the benefits of an aerobic workout are too great to dismiss. By all means keep your low impact exercises for calming, strengthening and mind body balancing, but when it comes to peak performance nothing beat the levels of oxygen that flows through your blood stream like a high impact sweat.

Here are just a few benefits for you:

  • Promotes higher levels of Oxygen through the body, which has a healing effect

  • Increases our metabolism

  • Exercise also increases chemicals that can moderate the brain's response to stress.

  • Releases dopamine “reward chemical” in response to any form of pleasure.

  • Helps with sleep – moving around 5-6hrs before bed raised the core body temp. After a few hours the body temp lowers back to normal and signals to the body that it is time to sleep

  • More energy to be more productive

  • Is known to boost creativity for up to 2hrs post workout.

#5 Return to Love

For me this is a way I like to look a people. We are currently in a society where we have been conditioned to judge. The stats show that the average person is on social media approx. 118mins per day. And we know as online entrepreneurs that this can easily blow out. Social media is full of posts where we judge if we like it or not. If we like it, we hit the like button; if we love it, we put a heart; if we don’t like it, a sad face and so on. We have been conditioned to judge and comment and we don’t even know we are doing it most of the time. Other studies show the emotional trauma that the impact of social numbers can have. So it makes sense that we need to consciously make the effort to return to love when we interact and communicate with other. The understanding that we are here to serve our tribe and that not everyone is in our tribe and that is ok. The understanding that what we see on the news is just a snipped of what goes on in the world, which has been selected by only a tiny minority. To understand that not everyone finds their path to enlightenment and that is ok. To understand that everyone has their journey, their timings and their decisions, and that is also ok. To look at everyone and everything with love and to even acknowledge that some things is not for us to understand.

This is all about setting yourself up for success and therefore giving your business the absolute best change to succeed. Take care of yourself first and your business will benefit from it.
